High school junior outside hitter Catherine Krieger has committed to the Sam Houston State University women’s volleyball team as part of the class of 2019. The native of Richmond, Texas stands at 5’11”.

An attendee of Foster High School, Krieger helped her team to a 27-9 (14-0 District) finish this season. In her third year of varsity, she notched 449 kills (4.4 per set) on a .277 mark and 392 digs (3.8 per set) according to her MaxPreps profile.

In total for her high school career, Krieger has logged 1,204 kills and 794 digs. That puts her on pace to eclipse 1,000 career digs in joining the 1K mark that she has already recorded in terminations.

On the club side of things, Krieger plays with Houston Skyline – specifically the 18 Royal squad. The combination of play in both club and high school helped her earn a spot on the AVCA Phenom list in 2015, 2016 and 2017 in addition to countless other accolades such as TAVC 5A All-State Team honors at Foster High School.

Sam Houston State is fresh off of a 14-16 season in which they went 10-6 in the Southland Conference. The returning roster for the fall of 2018 consists of four outside hitters with one senior who will be set to depart and leave an opening for Krieger to slide into come 2019.
