Class of 2019 recruit Garo Barsemian has committed to the UC Irvine men’s volleyball program. A 6’6″ pin player who can lock down the outside hitter or opposite role, Barsemian would have his true freshman season come in the winter/spring of 2020.

Barsemian is a senior-to-be come the fall at Crescenta Valley High School in La Crescenta, California. Most recently came his junior campaign where he helped the team to a 19-12 record. One year prior as a sophomore, he helped push the Falcons to a 25-8 mark in which they made the second round of the CIF Southern Section Boys Volleyball Championship Tournament.

Specifically in his junior season, Barsemian went on to earn Los Angeles Times All-Area First Team honors to go with being an All-Pacific League Second Team selection. For the year he totaled 355 kills, 67 digs, 48 aces, and 34 blocks.

Garo is actually the younger brother of Raymond Barsemian, a Second-Team All-MPSF outside hitter who plays in Irvine, Califronia as well – just at Concordia Irvine instead. Raymond will be a redshirt junior in 2019 too, meaning his senior year comes in 2020 thanks to the redshirt. Therefore, the two could match up against each other should the two teams from Irvine meet, which they usually do. Just like his brother, Garo Barsemian is part of San Gabriel Elite Volleyball Club as well.

UC Irvine is coming off of a 21-10 season in which they went 6-4 as a member of the Big West and made the NCAA Tournament.

Committed! 🐜🍴
