Class of 2019 setter and defensive specialist Ellie Watkins from Pasadena, California has committed to the Georgetown University women’s volleyball program.
A senior-to-be in the fall at Mayfield High School, Watkins most recent season came as a junior in 2017. It was her third year of varsity after she saw playing time as a freshman and sophomore as well as both a setter and back-row player.
Standing at 5’6″, Watkins also plays with San Gabriel Elite Volleyball Club (SG Elite VBC), specifically the 17 Elite team where she is mainly just a setter. Video of her play with the club can be seen below as she exercises her versatility in different types of sets.
It’s not the first class of 2019 commitment registered for Georgetown in the VolleyMob Recruiting Database. Watkins now joins setter Maddie Dowd out of Michigan.
Georgetown finished the 2017 season at 8-22 overall and 2-16 as a member of the Big East.
