2017 Montreux Volley Masters

The 2017 Montreux Volley Masters will be the 32nd edition of the competition, making it the oldest and most prestigious invitational tournament in international volleyball.

The event is one of the first stops for the national teams of the countries participating in the crucial 2017 year. This year is so important because the teams are already looking ahead at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, after the conclusion of the 2016 Rio Games.

There is a total of eight teams competing in the tournament, being split into two pools to begin. The first four days of the competition will be pool play matches, where only three matches will be played per day, while the final two days will feature the semifinals with the finals match on June 11.

The teams are:

Pool A: Argentina, China, the Netherlands, Switzerland

Pool B: Brazil, Germany, Poland, Thailand

The Olympic champions of China will look to continue their winning ways at the tournament as they took the 2016 edition, with their first match against Switzerland.

Six teams in the tournament are ranked in the top-15 of the FIVB World Rankings at the tournament – China (#1), Brazil (#4), the Netherlands (#7), Argentina (#10), Germany (#13) and Thailand (#14). Poland holds on at #22, while Switzerland is back at #44.
