Behind the hitting and blocking of outside hitter Melanie Crow, opposite Kira Larson and middle Alyssa Munlyn, the Missouri Tigers will look to defend their SEC title. In order to do that, they will have to face a schedule filled with top teams that was announced by head coach Wayne Kreklow.
Headlining the Missouri’s 2017 schedule are NCAA tournament participants Boise State, BYU, Florida, Kentucky, Northern Iowa, San Diego and Utah.
The entire non-conference will be a test for this team as their schedule consists of four away tournaments in Idaho, Nevada, Tennessee and Utah.
Opening the season the Tigers will play four matches in two-days where they face Austin Peay, Marshall, Middle Tennessee and Northern Iowa. UNI was an at-large selection after finishing third in the Missouri Valley Conference.
The following weekend will be in Boise, Idaho where they take on host Boise State, nationally-ranked BYU, and Sacramento State. This will be an almost similar tournament to last season as all teams but Sacramento State played each other with BYU coming out victorious.
Utah will host the third tournament and the Utes are the lone Pac-12 team on the Tigers’ schedule. Also, coming to Salt Lake will be Wisconsin-Green Bay and San Diego.
The final non-conference tournament will be hosted by Mountain West school Nevada. A rising team in Pepperdine will join the tournament along with Sacramento State.
Missouri will open face all SEC teams at least once but will only see Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU and Tennessee only once. This means that they will face the preseason SEC champions Florida twice but luckily only have to face the preseason second ranked team in Kentucky once.
17 of the Missouri’s 18 conference matches will be either streamed or televised on SEC Network, SEC Network Plus or ESPNU.
