The 2016-2017 Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year, Erin O’Leary, is committed to staying in-state for college and being a part of the Michigan Wolverine family in 2018. Currently a senior in high school, O’Leary plays at Novi High School.

A 5’10” setter, O’Leary has been committed to Michigan since the summer after her freshman and before her sophomore year of high school. She’s won a Kensington Lakes Athletic Association title each year since that point, including last season when Novi High School won the Class A Michigan High School State Championship.
On that team, O’Leary racked up 1,451 assists, 361 digs, 203 kills and 76 aces in 57 matches as her team lost just twice all season long. Her performance has earned her a spot on the MaxPreps All-America First-Team two times now. She also was recently listed by the AVCA as being on the Under Armour All-American Watch List.
O’Leary has even spent some time in her prep career with Team USA’s Youth National Team. In 2016 she toured with a team that finished second at the NORCECA Girls’ U18 Continental Championship.
Michigan currently has three setters on their 2017 roster – a junior and two sophomores. Part of that sophomore duo is Mackenzi Welsh, who was AVCA All-American Honorable Mention last season as a freshman.
