Texas State downs TCU in four sets in the team’s 11th annual Pink Match. This is the first time that the Bobcats have taken a match over the Horned Frogs since September 25, 2007, and the first over a Big 12 opponent since they defeated Baylor on September 10, 2013.
The Bobcats came out strong in the first set, taking an early 12-4 lead over TCU. After taking this lead over the Horned Frogs they didn’t look back and rolled the first set win of 25-17. The second was a more tight match, but the Bobcats pulled away at different points throughout the match, taking a 20-14 lead late. TCU did not give up, though, fighting back to make it a 23-21 game. Texas State was able to secure the final two points needed to take the 2-0 match advantage.
TCU ended Texas State’s 17 set win streak with a 25-15 third set score to make it a 2-1 match. The final set saw the Bobcats come out strong and take a giant 25-16 win over the Horned Frogs for the match.
Megan Porter led the Bobcats with 14 kills and 13 digs for a double-double while Madison Daigle added another 13 kills on a .500 hitting clip and eight blocks. Amy Pflughaupt finished with a double-double of 10 kills and 18 digs. Also adding offensively and defensively for the Bobcats was Jaliyah Bolden with nine kills and eight blocks while Micah Dinwiddie picked up 16 digs.
For TCU, Allye Beth Deaton put down 12 kills and 11 digs for a double-double while Abigail Buckingham and Anna Walsh each added 11 kills. Dani Dennison picked up a match-best 20 digs.

The Texas State volleyball team earned a 3-1 (25-17, 25-22, 15-25, 25-16) victory over TCU Tuesday night inside Strahan Coliseum.
The contest doubled as the 11th Annual Pink Match for the Bobcats (14-7), who held a silent auction and took donations for Pink Heals Hays County. The triumph was the first over the Horned Frogs (9-8) since Sept. 25, 2007 and the first over a Big 12 Conference program since Sept. 10, 2013 (Baylor).
TXST earned its sixth win a row and was led offensively by sophomores Amy Pflughaupt and Megan Porter. Both finished with double-doubles, with Pflughaupt providing 18 digs and 10 kills. Porter chipped in 14 kills and 13 digs. Junior Madison Daigle (13 kills, .500 attack percentage, eight blocks) and senior Jaliyah Bolden (nine kills, eight blocks) had monster nights in the middle, while sophomore Micah Dinwiddie had 16 digs.
Senior Erin Hoppe posted 39 assists and tied her career high with 14 digs for her first double-double of the season.
Texas State came out firing to lay claim to the opening set by a 25-17 margin. The maroon and gold was powered by a raucous crowd to surge ahead 12-4. The Bobcats never looked back, as the visitors were unable to get closer than six points.
The second period saw TXST wrap up a 25-22 triumph. A double block from Daigle and Bolden put Texas State on top 3-2 early, and the Bobcats led the rest of the way. They initially took a 10-5 advantage before climbing on top 20-14. TCU closed the gap to 23-21, but Texas State was able to chop up the final three points to move ahead two games to none.
The visitors were able to put an end to the Bobcats’ 17-set win streak by securing the third 25-15, but the home team cruised in the fourth 25-16 to wrap up the evening. The final period again saw Texas State race out to a 10-4 lead that eventually swelled to 20-9.
Allye Beth Deaton compiled 12 kills and 11 digs for the visitors. Abigail Buckingham and Anna Walsh each notched 11 kills, and Dani Dennison tallied 20 digs. The duo of Lamprini Konstantinidou (20) and Kaylee Smith (18) combined for 38 assists.
Texas State had match highs in kills (53-45), attack percentage (.179-.121), assists (49-42), digs (77-63), and blocks (12-10). Both sides had a solo ace.
The maroon and gold will jump back into Sun Belt Conference play with a home match against UTA at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 10 inside Strahan Coliseum.

“This team has shown so much resilience and confidence during this winning streak. I cannot say enough right now about Erin Hoppe. She is doing a great job of distributing the ball. We don’t have a star on the floor. That’s what I like about this team. We have four or five hitters and a great defense around them. That was a huge win. That was fun. We knew TCU was going to come back after we won the first two sets because they are a good team. But I’m so proud of this team for coming back and taking that fourth set.”
On playing inside Strahan Coliseum again…
“I loved it tonight. Just look at the crowd. Those junior high kids and all of our fans helped us create a homecourt advantage. They welcomed us back home, and I really enjoyed that. We don’t have too many road matches left this season, so I’m excited to see our fans the rest of the year. Also, I’m glad our team got this win so they can fully enjoy being inside Strahan Coliseum.”
On the 11th Annual Pink Match…
“I can’t give enough credit to my associate head coach Tracy Smith. She puts this all together. This is both a Bobcat and Hays County effort. It was really nice to see the pink fire truck. Our team was able to get out there and see it and learn what it’s all about. That really touched our girls. I think we all know somebody who has had to deal with cancer. This was a great turnout, and I hope we raised a lot of money.”

In the final non-conference match of the season, the TCU volleyball team stumbled to Texas State and dropped a 3-1 (25-17, 25-22, 15-25, 25-16) decision on Tuesday night inside Strahan Coliseum in San Marcos.
The quick turnaround from Sunday hurt the Horned Frogs (9-8, 1-4 Big 12) as they struggled to bounce back on Tuesday night with the Bobcats (14-7, 5-1 Sunbelt) quickly going up 2-0 in the match. TCU found its stride in the third set as the Frogs hit .229 and recorded five total blocks to get on the board. TCU could not carry the momentum into the fourth set as Texas State went on an early run and never looked back as they took the victory in four sets.
Allye Beth Deaton led TCU offensively for the third time this season with 12 kills in the match and also picked up 11 digs to mark her second double-double of the season. Anna Walsh and Abigail Buckingham each put down 11 kills in the match to also contribute offensively. Dani Dennison continued to anchor the back row defense with 20 digs, while Walsh and Sarah Langs each put up 4.0 blocks.
