HISTORY WITH THE BADGERS
Wisconsin owns a 39-35 advantage in the tightly-contested all-time series between two storied programs. The Badgers came out on top earlier this season with a win in Madison on Sept. 23 while the Buckeyes lead 17-16 in 33 meetings inside St. John Arena.
Valeria León – OHIO STATE’S ALL-TIME DIGS QUEEN
With her first dig of the night against Michigan State on Oct. 22, Valeria León took sole possession of the Ohio State school record for career digs. Her 1,573rd dig set the new all-time mark and she enters this week with 1,623 to her name. The Buckeye libero also has control of the best digs per set average in school history, putting up 3.48 per set since arriving at Ohio State in 2013.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
Ohio State sits at No. 22 in this week’s AVCA Coaches Poll. The Buckeyes are one of seven Big Ten teams ranked in the Top-25 while Illinois, Purdue and Iowa are all receiving votes as well. The Big Ten Conference combined for an overall non-conference record of 122-36 (.772). Ohio State has been nationally ranked for 36 consecutive weeks, a streak dating back to Oct. 13, 2014.
MILESTONES APPROACHING
Wednesday night marks the 300th match for Ohio State under the leadership of head coach Geoff Carlston. The Carlston-led Buckeyes have accumulated an overall record of 186-113 (.622) since his arrival in 2008. He needs just five more wins to surpass Sue Collins (1973-79) for the second most wins in program history.
In addition, Ohio State has racked up 974 victories overall since 1971 with an all-time winning percentage of .640 (974-548). That mark includes a 314-133 (.702)( ledger inside St. John Arena.
ANOTHER RANKED FOE DOWNED BY OSU
The Buckeyes swept by 11th-ranked Michigan State on Oct. 22, representing Ohio State’s third victory over a Top-25 team in 2016. Then-No. 16 Texas A&M and top-ranked Nebraska also fell victim to Buckeye wins.

Valeria León has been named one of 30 candidates nationwide for the 2016 Senior CLASS Award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as a Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition. The 30 women’s volleyball candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists later in the season.
