Michigan State sophomore Samantha McLean and fellow Spartan student-athlete Mairi Fletcher were involved in a car crash that left the two injured. In a report by The State News, one is in serious condition while the other is being treated for non-life threatening injuries. In a Twitter post from Casey Harrison, an MSU journalism student, it is believed that Fletcher is the one in serious condition.
McLean is a sophomore volleyball player from Grand Rapids. Fletcher is an international student from Glasgow, Scotland. Sources tell me Fletcher was the student in "serious condition" @thesnews

Both McLean and Fletcher were stopped at the crosswalk at Shaw Lane and Chestnut Road, where a GMC pickup truck struck the two. Mclean and Fletcher were both transported to Sparrow Hospital while the two occupants of the truck were not injured.
The crash is currently under investigation, with Cpt. Doug Monette saying he doesn’t believe drugs or alcohol were considered a factor in the accident.
McLean has been a steady defensive specialist for the Spartans this season, having 92 digs for an average of 1.37 digs per set along with nine assists. McLean has been a big factor in the Spartans accumulating a 19-7 record and 12-5 in Big Ten play this season. With just three more Big Ten matches left in the year, the Spartans will leave the remainder of their season to the NCAA selection committee as they will determine their fate in the NCAA Tournament.
It is unknown the overall condition of McLean and when she would be making a return to the court following the injury.
