Toledo Hires Indiana Assistant Jason Oliver As Next Head Coach

Toledo has announced the addition of Jason Oliver as the program’s new head coach, replacing Greg Smith who resigned after nine seasons with the team.

Oliver heads to Toledo after being an assistant coach at the University of Indiana for the past two seasons. With the Hoosiers, Oliver helped the team as recruiting coordinator, bringing in a 2017 class that ranked in the top-30. In the two seasons at Indiana, Oliver brought the Hoosiers to a 21-3 non-conference mark.

Oliver has been around at a number of big programs throughout his years as a coach, with High Point being a successful stop. There he led the squad to a 118-103 record, making him the most successful coach in program history. In 2010, he led the team to a Big South Conference title and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Another successful program that Oliver has been apart of was Dayton, who posted an 80-24 record over his three years as assistant coach with the program. In 2007, his final season with the team, the Flyers held a 33-2 overall record an a #12 AVCA ranking. Dayton also moved on to the second round of the NCAA Tournament that season.

Oliver played at George Mason, being named the co-captain and starting setter in his final season with the team. That season he led the team in assists and digs per set while dishing out a program record 99 assists in a single match, tallying 1,638 assists in a season.
