GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke middle blocker Jordan Tucker and setter Cindy Marina were named the ACC Volleyball Player and Freshman of the Week.
The Blue Devils went 2-0 this past weekend, recording their sixth straight win and 20th of the season. Tucker averaged four kills per set, one and a half blocks per set and a .468 hitting percentage over the two games. The middle blocker recorded double-digit kills in both matches while committing only two attack errors. In the win against Virginia Tech, Tucker recorded 11 kills, four digs, three blocks and a .375 hitting percentage. The Kansas native then notched 13 kills, six blocks and a .565 hitting percentage in a 3-0 victory at Pittsburgh. Tucker currently ranks fifth in the conference in hitting percentage, averaging a .341.
Marina averaged 11.33 assists per set over the weekend, contributing to Duke’s 2-0. The setter totaled 68 assists, securing her lead in the conference standings in that category. The freshman has tallied 1,105 assists so far this season and averages 11.05 assists per set, which ranks 25th nationally. Marina’s three service aces over the weekend raised her season total to a team-best 24. Against Pittsburgh, she contributed 37 assists, six digs, three kills, two aces and two blocks. Against the Hokies, the freshman notched 31 assists, two blocks and a service ace.
