Former head volleyball coach at Wyoming Area Secondary Center, Nicholas N. Diaco, 27, has been sentenced up to 23 months in county jail for sexting two teenage students.
Back in November, Diaco pled guilty to two counts of corruption of minors and two counts of indecent assault, both being misdemeanors. Luzerne County Judge David W. Lupas sentenced Diaco to serve 3 to 23 months in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility which will be followed up by 18 months of probation.
Diaco was first charged back in September 2016 with sending explicit text messages to a 16-year-old girl that he was coaching at the time. The girl received lengthy messages from Diaco that explained in detail wanting to do specific sex acts with the girl. In addition, it was found that he was also messaging a 15-year-old as well. Within some of the messages to the second girl, he expressed the want to have sex with her, inviting her over to his house and asking the girl to lie to her parents about where she would be.
In court, Diaco expressed his apologies to the girls, maintaining that he would have never followed through with engaging in sex acts with either of the teens.
Diaco resigned his head coaching position, which was his only source of employment within the school system.
As a part of his sentence, Diaco is to avoid places where children gather – schools and parks – while having to register as a sex offender.
