Two Americans have signed contracts to head over to the Austrian Volley League to begin their pro careers – Duke’s Jordan Tucker and Maryland’s Hailey Murray. The two will play with Austria’s SG Prinz Brunnenbau Volleyball in Perg for the final stretch of their season.
The addition of Murray and Tucker comes on the heels of the team’s loss of Julia Gasselseder due to injury which left a vulnerability in the middle blocking position this season in the league.
Murray spent four years with the Maryland Terrapins where she accumulated 818 kills for an average of 1.75 kills per set in her career. She also boasted a .286 hitting clip during her time with the Terrapins while posting a total of 401 blocks. In her final season with Maryland, Murray started in all 32 matches as a middle blocker and earned a 2017 All-Big Ten Honorable Mention for her play during the season.
Tucker earned an AVCA honorable mention All-American award after her senior season at Duke. Tucker finished her career with 1,186 kills, ranking 14th in Blue Devil history, along with a.319 hitting clip and 401 blocks.
Both players were middle blockers for their respective programs and will be fighting for a spot at the same spot with SG Prinz Brunnenbau Volleyball.
