Katie Horton’s 17 Kills Leads Florida State To Second Round Of Tourney

Florida State came back from a first set loss to take down Cincinnati in four sets.

The Seminoles will face the winner of the Florida/Alabama State match on Saturday, December 3 at 7:30 PM ET.

The first set was a back and forth battle up until the score was tied at 11 a piece. Cincinnati went on a 4-1 run to make it a 15-12 game. Another five point run for Cincinnati sealed the deal on the first set, winning it 25-20.

The second set was all Florida State as they quickly jumped out to a 9-5 lead. A five point run put them ahead 16-9, a 9-5 run for Florida State gave them the second set 25-14. The third set was more back and forth, with the score being tied at 6-6, then again at 13all, but Florida State pushed forward to take the set 25-23.

The fourth set was no different, with the score being tied up late in the match at 21-21, three attack errors put them behind, with the final point coming from a Katie Horton kills at 25-23.

For Florida State, Horton put down a team-best 17 kills and 26 digs for a double-double. Cecilie Woie picked up 14 digs in the back court.

Jordan Thompson recorded a double-double for Cincinnati with 28 kills and 13 digs on a .500 hitting percentage. Carly Nolan put down 14 kills, while setter Jade Tingelhoff posted a double-double with 47 assists and 13 digs in the loss.
