After suffering a knee injury in Oregon State’s Pac-12 opener against Oregon on Sept. 21, Haylie Bennett has been missed by the Beavers.
The sophomore attempted a return at UCLA on Oct. 6, appearing in 2 sets with 1 kill and a -.125 attack percentage, but it seemed to be premature as she did not appear again for Oregon State until its match at Utah on Oct. 11. This time, she was ready.

Bennett did not start, but played in all 5 sets and shared the team-lead with Maddie Goings with a career-high 19 kills. The 6-1 outside hitter/right side hitter seemed to be at full strength, posting a .412 attack percentage and committing just 5 errors to go with her career-high kill total.

Despite her efforts, Oregon State fell short of the win, falling to Utah 3-2 on the road.
Though they have Bennett back, the Beavers have struggled throughout its difficult Pac-12 schedule. Oregon State is on a 7-match losing streak and has yet to win a conference match this year (0-7). Overall, the Beavers own a record of 10-9.
Injuries are an unfortunate trend for Oregon State, which is missing seniors Kory Cheshire and Shekinah Clarke. Cheshire is out for the season with an undisclosed injury, while Clarke sustained a knee injury against UTEP on Sept. 14 and will miss the remainder of the year. Both will apply for another year of eligibility and plan to return for the Beavers in 2019.
