Loyola’s Mahan & Lewis’ Perinar Earn Final MIVA Weekly Honors

In the final weekly awards of the 2017 season, Lewis’ Mitch Perinar and Collin Mahan of Loyola have been honored by the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. Perinar was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Mahan was named the Defensive Player of the Week for the period ending April 9.

Perinar averaged 4.43 kills per set on a .431 attack percentage in wins over No. 13 Ball State (April 6) and Fort Wayne (April 8). His 17 points and 15 kills against Fort Wayne, were the most by a Flyer in a three-set match this season. Perinar’s .591 (15-2-22) hitting percentage against Fort Wayne was the third-best by a Flyer this season. He racked up 16 kills and hit .333 (16-4-36) in a four-set win over Ball State.

Mahan averaged 2.57 digs in road matches at Fort Wayne and Ball State last week. He had seven digs and two blocks against the Mastodons in a 3-0 win. He returned two days later to match a career high with 11 digs and a block in a 3-0 setback to Ball State.
