Sixth-ranked Novi’s senior, Abryanna Cannon has announced her verbal commitment to Northwestern University beginning in the 2018 season. Previously, Cannon had announced her verbal commitment to Notre Dame but decided to make a change.

Last season, Cannon was a strong force for Novi, putting down over 500 kills, helping the team to a Michigan Class A championship, a 52-1 record and named with First-Team All-State honors. To go even further, this summer at AAU Nationals, Cannon propelled her club team, Michigan Elite 17 Mizuno, to a third-place finish while also earning All-American honors.

In the state finals, Cannon put down 20 kills to lead the Wildcats to their second consecutive state title and her first, being that she transferred in from Traverse City’s West High where she played her first two high school seasons.

Novi began their 2017 season with a 6-0 record, but it was without Cannon, as she came down on her foot awkwardly at practice forcing her to sit out the opening weekend.

This season, Cannon will look to help Novi to their third straight state title, upon her return to the court. Districts for Michigan begin the week of October 30 while the state tournament occurring from November 16-18 at the Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek.
