The 2016 Rio Olympic beach volleyball champions Alison Cerutti and Bruno Schmidt keep on winning.
The pair won the Olympics, the Toronto 2016 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Final and have now won the San Jose leg on the Brazil Beach Volleyball Tour. Cerutti/Schmidt have, on top of all their victories, topped the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour rankings.
Cerutti/Schmidt, who are also the reigning FIVB Beach Volleyball world champions, took down Alvaro Filho and Saymon Santos 2-0 (21-19, 21-18). For the bronze medal, Arthur Lanci and Eduardo Davi won 2-1 (26-24, 18-21, 15-8) over Gustavo Carvalhes and Benjamin Insfran.
“We’ve had a wonderful year, which we will always remember very fondly for many years,” said Cerutti.
On the women’s side of the tournament, Juliana Felisberta and Rebecca Silva entered their first tournament together with a win. The pair took out Ana Patricia and Angela Lavalle 2-0 (21-18, 21-19), making it Felisberta’s 68th victory on the Brazilian Tour.
“It was a great pleasure to play with Rebecca, we’ve bonded well and it seemed like we’ve been partners for decades,” said Felisberta.
San Jose is the fifth stop on the Brazilian Tour and final one of the year, after the new year four more tournament’s will occur.
The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour will begin with the Fort Lauderdale Major Series, which will take place from February 7-12.
