The finals of the Polish men’s PlusLiga championships have been set, with Belchatow and Kedzierzyn-Kozle to face off after sweeping their opponents.
In the best-of-three series, each of the two teams were able to secure their spots in the finals without having to use a deciding third match.
Belchatow first took out Rzeszow in a three set sweep in the first match of the series 3-0, (25-21, 25-15, 25-13). In the match that sent Belchatow to the finals, Rzeszow gave them a run for their money with a five set match 3-2, (21-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-18, 15-8). Leading all players was Bartosz Kurek with 20 points with five being aces. Maiusz Wlazly added another 17 points in the win.
In the other semifinal matches Kedzierzyn-Kozle took down Jastrzebski in a three set sweep in both matches, with first match scores of 25-23, 25-20, 25-19. In the second match, Kedzierzyn-Kozle ran through Jastrzebski 3-0, (25-19, 25-17, 25-20). Dawid Konarski led the attack with 13 points while Sam Deroo added another 10.
On April 18, Jastrzebski will face Rzeszow in a best-of-three series to claim the third place slot in the league, with the second match already set for April 23. If split, a third match will be determined at a later date.
For the finals, Belchatow and Kedzierzyn-Kozle will face off starting of April 19, with the second match set for April 23. From there, the champion will be crowned or a third match will be set.
