Brazilian Women’s Superleague Semifinals Set

The Brazilian women’s Superleague semifinal field has been set, with the defending champions, Rexona Sesc Rio de Janeiro rolling through the competition.

Dentil Praia Clube Uberlandia clinched the series 2-1 over Terracap BRB Brasilia 3-1, (22-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-14). Ellen Braga lifted Praia Clube over Terracap after coming off the bench in the first two sets with 17 points, 15 of which were kills on a 60 percent hitting clip. Teammate Alix Klineman added another 19 points for the team to earn the MVP award of the match.

With the win, it marks only the second time that Praia Clube  has made it to the Superleague’s semifinals.

Rexona Sesc continued their dominance by sweeping the best-of-three series 2-0 over Pinheiros Sao Paolo with a final match score of 25-13, 25-20, 25-22.

Volei Nestle Osasco completed a back-to-back sweep over Fluminense for a final match victory of 3-0, (25-20, 25-14, 25-13), with Ana Beatriz earning MVP honors.

Camponesa Minas of Belo Horizonte squared away a three set sweep over Genter Volei 3-0, (25-22, 25-23, 25-17) for another trip to the semifinals. Leading Camponesa was USA’s Destinee Hooker with 20 points and earning the MVP award.

Semifinal Matchups

  • Rexona Sesc Rio de Janeiro vs. Camponesa Minas Belo Horizonte
  • Volei Nestle Osasco vs. Dentil Praia Clube Uberlandia

The semifinals will begin play on April 4.
