The Charlotte 49ers are tacking on an addition via the transfer market as they are adding Moea Osbey to the 2017 roster. The 6’0″ outside hitter comes to Charlotte by way of Western Carolina, where she spent her first two collegiate seasons.
“We are so pleased to welcome Moea Osbey to the 49er volleyball family,” Charlotte head coach Karen Weatherington said in the Charlotte release. “She has already made an immediate impact in the gym during the first weeks of our spring season.”
Osbey appeared in 39 career matches over the course of two seasons at Western Carolina, with 29 of them coming as a sophomore in 2016. In her final season, Osbey threw down 167 kills to go along with 50 blocks and 48 digs. She will have junior classification in 2017 and has two years left of eligibility.
“We are impressed with her work ethic and competitive spirit,” Weatherington added on in the release. “Moea adds depth to the outside hitter position and is physically strong. She’s gained good experience from her time at WCU and we are glad she’s going to be a part of our bright future.”
Charlotte will hope Osbey can help turn the team around, as they’ve won 15 games over the last two seasons after winning 17 in 2014.
