Chattanooga State Community College Adds Volleyball For Fall Of 2018

Chattanooga State Community College has announced their plans to add Women’s Volleyball Division II to their athletic slate starting in the fall of 2018. CSCC is a part of the National Junior College Athletic Association.

The program has already begun recruiting players for the upcoming season and has appointed Janet Tate as the head coach. Tate has a tremendous coaching resume behind her as she has accumulated a 487-69 record at the high school level across a number of sports – volleyball, softball, basketball, track, golf and cheerleading. The head coaching position for CSCC will be her first go-around with collegiate coaching.

“I am very excited about Chattanooga State’s efforts to expand sports programs for women and I am honored to be their first volleyball coach. We are very excited to begin recruiting and getting quality player for our program,” said Tate.

In college, Tate played for UTC where was named Volleyball Best Defense, All-State and Captain. She used her playing talents to translate into her coaching as she has gathered 14 Volleyball Coach of the Year honors, League Championships and Tournament Champions.

Volleyball was added to the CSCC docket, adding to the list of programs that the college offers – baseball, softball and men’s and women’s basketball.
