Class of 2019 recruit Lauren Latka has committed to the Akron University women’s volleyball team. A 5’6″ defensive specialist and libero, Latka will head to Akron for the fall of 2019 season.
A junior at Zionsville High School in Indiana, Latka helped her team to a 29-3 season en route to a Class 4A State Tournament appearance.
According to her MaxPreps profile, Latka totaled 408 digs (4.2 per set), 31 assists (0.3 per set) and 19 aces (0.2 per set) this past season.
On the club side of things, she plays with Team Indiana Volleyball and the Elite 17 team. Video of some of her play can be seen here via her SportsRecruits page.
Akron is fresh off of a 6-22 season in which they went 2-13 playing in the Mid-American Conference (MAC). Their 2017 roster featured three defensive specialists that included one senior and a junior, meaning spots will be opened up at the position for Latka come 2019.
