The Sam Houston State University (SHSU) women’s volleyball program has landed a commitment from Katelyn Nwonumah, a class of 2019 middle blocker and right side recruit.
Nwonumah is in her senior year now at Mansfield Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas. Additionally, she plays for NRG Volleyball and the NRG 18 Ampd team on the club side of things. Plenty of highlight video of her play can be seen here via her SportsRecruits profile.
Nwonumah isn’t the first class of 2019 commit for Sam Houston State as registered in the VolleyMob Recruiting Database either. She will be joined by outside hitter Catherine Krieger as a freshman come the fall of 2019.
Sam Houston State is 18-5 so far in 2018 with a 10-1 mark as a member of the Southland Conference. Last season they earned a 14-16 (10-6, Southland) finish. SHSU currently has four players who can play the middle position on their roster, with one set to graduate after the season. They also have six OH/RS players, with another set to depart.
Blessed to say i have committed to continue my academic & volleyball career at Sam Houston State University. Thx to everyone who supported me on my journey & most importantly thank God for blessing me with this talent & opportunity to showcase it at the D1 level. #EatEmUpKats🧡🐾 pic.twitter.com/Y6nrms0LfA
