Class of 2019 right side Nathan Merren has committed to the Cal State University Northridge (CSUN) men’s volleyball program. Merren will therefore be a freshman for the 2020 season.
Merren is in his senior year now at Quartz Hill High School in California, where his final varsity season will come in 2019. His junior year was not registered online at MaxPreps, although his sophomore campaign was when he registered 184 kills (2.9 per set) on a .379 hitting percentage, 91 digs (1.4 per set), 30 aces (0.5 per set) and 17 blocks (0.3 per set).
On the club circuit, Merren plays with Legacy Volleyball Club in Santa Clarita, California. He last played with the Boys 17 Elite squad who finished third at the BJNC for 17 Open and was on the All-Tournament Team. Video highlights of his play can be seen below via YouTube:
It’s not the only class of 2019 recruit that has committed to the Matadors and been registered in the VolleyMob Recruiting Database. Also joining Merren will be right side Griffin Walters. CSUN also had three opposites on their 2018 roster, with one senior set to graduate and the other two set to be sophomores in 2019 and eventually juniors in 2020 when Merren arrives.
CSUN finished the 2018 season at 16-11 overall and 5-5 as a member of the Big West. They also ranked 10th in the final VolleyMob Men’s T0p 20 Power Rankings and come in at 11th in the Way-Too-Early edition for 2019.
