Class of 2019 right side Griffin Walters has committed to the Cal State Northridge (CSUN) men’s volleyball program for the 2020 season.
Standing at 6’6″, Walters will be a senior this school year at El Camino High School in Sacramento, California. As a junior he pushed the Eagles to a 23-6 mark including a runner-up finish at the 2018 Division II CIF San Joaquin Volleyball Championship.
According to his MaxPreps profile, Walters racked up per set numbers of 4.1 assists, 3.1 digs, 2.1 kills on a .314 hitting percentage, 1.1 aces and 0.4 blocks as a setter and opposite.
On the club side of things, Walters plays with Northern California Volleyball Club (NCVC), most recently the 17-1 team. As part of the club, he finished 11th at the USA BJNC 17 Open while hitting .427 individually and notching the top mark in blocks for the team. CSUN finished the 2018 season at 16-11 overall and 5-5 as a member of the Big West Conference. They are ranked 11th in the Way-Too-Early 2019 VolleyMob Men’s Top 20 Power Rankings after winding up 10th in last year’s final rankings. They lose on right side from their 2018 roster in Arvis Greene, but return two freshman who would be juniors come 2020 to join Walters plus any other newcomers at the position.
