Class of 2020 defensive specialist/libero Sam Hastings has verbally committed to the University of Southern California women’s volleyball program.
Hastings will be a junior this upcoming season at Centennial High School in Frisco, Texas. As a sophomore on an 18-22 team she appeared in 199 sets. In total she logged 777 digs (6.5 per set), 95 assists (0.8 per set), 37 aces (0.3 per set) and 10 kills.
On the club side of things, the 5’8″ Hastings plays with Skyline Juniors in Dallas and most recently the 16 Royal team (and heading to the 17 team). Her recruiting profile can be seen here while video of her play can be seen below via YouTube:
“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Southern California to continue my education and volleyball career,” Hastings said in her Instagram post announcing the commitment. “Huge thanks to my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for all of their love and support and believing in me.”
It’s not the first future commit for the Trojans that has been registered in the VolleyMob Recruiting Database. Beyond the class of 2018 and 2019, Hastings joins setter Elle Glock (2021) as 2020 or later.
USC collected a 25-10 finish in 2017 in which they went 14-6 as a member of the Pac-12 and appeared in the Elite Eight/Regional Final round.
