Class of 2020 outside hitter Rebekah Rath has verbally committed to the University of Maryland women’s volleyball program.
An attendee of Oviedo High School in Florida, Rath will be a junior this upcoming fall. In her sophomore season she helped the Lions to a 25-4 mark that earned a 9A FHSAA Girls Volleyball Regional Final appearance. As a freshman in 2016, she was also a part of a squad that was the Class 9A State Runner-Up.
According to her MaxPreps profile, Rath totaled 430 kills (5.1 per set) on a .376 hitting percentage, 63 digs (0.8 per set) and 35 blocks (0.4 per set) in year two with the school. As a freshman she logged 312 kills (3.5 per set).
In terms of club ball, Rath plays with Top Select Volleyball Academy and most recently the 17U Elite Blake team. The 6’0″ pin’s recruiting profiles with video of her play can be seen here via Hudl and here through SportsRecruits.
Rath actually becomes the third commitment for Maryland as part of the class of 2020. Joining her in the fold for the Terrapins are outside hitter Sam Csire and setter/right side Sydney Dowler.
Maryland finished 2017 with an 18-14 record and a 7-13 mark as a member of the Big Ten.
