Class of 2021 setter and right side Rachel Muisenga has committed to the Penn State University women’s volleyball program.

Muisenga currently attends Benet Academy in Lisle, Illinois, where she will be a sophomore this upcoming season for the school. In year one in 2017, she was moved to the opposite position and became the first freshman front row player to start since 2007 for a school that has finished in the top two of state five times dating back to 2008.

She wound up third on the team in kills and blocks as a freshman, as she helped her team reach the IHSA Class 4A Sweet 16. This year she is projected to be the starting right side/setter.

Standing at six feet tall, she also plays with 1st Alliance and the Lions Juniors on the club circuit. With the 15-1 team she helped earn a second place finish at the Great Lakes Power League 16 Super Open Division. She has also earned plenty of honors for the tournaments she has played in such as 2018 JVA Ultra Ankle Watch List 15s All National Team and 2018 PVB 15s Club All-American Second Team.

Video of her play from the USAV 2018 Mideast Qualifier can be seen below via YouTube:

Penn State finished the 2017 season at 33-2 overall and 19-1 as a member of the Big Ten en route to a Final Four appearance. Their 2018 campaign begins on August 24 when they start a weekend set against Eastern Kentucky, UMBC and Navy.
