After just two seasons as the head coach for the Clemson Tigers, Hugh Hernesman is fired.

Hernesman was the ninth head coach in Clemson volleyball program history. In his final season with the Tigers, Hernesman posted a 6-26 record, losing their final 12 matches of the season.

Prior to his two seasons with the Tigers, Hernesman won a conference title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament with Northwestern State in 2014.

“The decision to make a change in the leadership of our volleyball program is not an easy on,” said Athletic Director, Dan Radakovich, “but in evaluating the entire program, it became evident that we needed a new direction to better position our student-athletes for future success.”

A national search for his replacement will begin immediately, while an interim head coach will be named soon as off-season training continues.
