With both the VolleyMob Top 20 Power Rankings and the AVCA Coaches Poll out, we take another dive into where each conference sits in the rankings – both in terms of quantity and average of their quality ranking.

VM TOP 20 VM AVG. RK AVCA (15) AVCA AVG. RK
MPSF  7  11.4  5  8.6
Big West  5  6.4  5  6.4
MIVA  5  9.8  4  8.3
EIVA  3  15.7  1  11.0

The MPSF is barely holding on to seven teams being ranked, as both USC and Stanford are at the edge of the poll. On the flip side, those teams being ranked 19th and 20th lower the leagues’ average ranking in the VolleyMob Top 20 from 11.4 to 8.6, which would only be bested by the Big West, which is weighted by having the teams ranked one through three.

In a bit tighter poll for the AVCA, which features 15 teams as opposed to 20, as the MIVA actually has the most top-10 teams (with four), while the Big West still has the top three. Overall though, the MPSF and Big West have the most, while interestingly enough the EIVA’s lone ranked team (Penn State) comes in at 11 while unbeaten conference leader (George Mason) is just receiving votes.
