Russian native and star opposite Natalia Goncharova has re-upped her contract with Dynamo Moscow in the top Russian League for the 2018-2019 season. The move keeps Goncharova with the same club that she has been a part of dating back to 2007.
Standing at 1.94 meters (6’4″), Goncharova owns a 306 cm (10’0″) block touch and a 321 cm (10’6″) spike. As part of Dynamo Moscow this past season, Goncharova helped to push the team to a second-place regular season finish before they won the Russian Superleague playoffs and Championship. It was the sixth Russian Superleague title for Dynamo Moscow.
On the National level, Goncharova has also been with the Russian National Team since 2010 after she spent three years with the Ukrainian National Team. As part of the squad, she has hauled in three gold medals (2010 FIVB World Championship and the 2013 & 2015 European Championships) and a silver and bronze at the 2015 and 2014 FIVB World Grand Prix, respectively.
The trophies continue on into her club career, mainly with Dynamo Moscow, where she has claimed seven golds in her decade plus of action. Individually she has also notched a myriad of best opposite honors through different tournaments, including in the 2015 FIVB Grand Prix and 2015 FIVB World Cup. She also was the 2016 Women’s European qualification MVP.
It’s unclear how long the contract extension will be for Goncharova, but the soon-to-be 29 year-old should have plenty more in the tank as Dynamo Moscow looks to not just win the Superleague but also the Russian Cup next season.
