Egypt Earns Spot In FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championships

After sweeping rival’s Tunisia, Egypt has finally secured their spot in the FIVB Volleyball Women’s U20 World Championship in Mexico after winning the 2017 African Nations Championship Women’s U20’s at the Olympic Centre in Cairo.

In the finals of the tournament, Egypt swept Tunisia first on Saturday 3-0 (25-7, 25-20, 25-20), then again on Sunday 3-1 (25-22, 25-6, 23-25, 25-9). The first set in the championship match was a tight battle, but Egypt came out swinging and dominated the second to go up 2-0 on the match. Tunisia didn’t want to give up, taking the third in a tough battle 25-23, but wanting the match to end and qualify for the U20 World Championships, Egypt dominated 25-9 in the fourth.

Egypt has won seven consecutive titles since 2004. Algeria defeated Egypt in 2002, since then Tunisia has won three silver medals and two bronze medals.
