The Elite Eight for the NCAA Division II Tournament have been set, as the teams were reseeded following the regional round matches.

Matchups

  • #1 Concordia-St. Paul vs. #8 New Haven
  • #2 Regis (Colorado) vs. #7 Gannon
  • #3 Florida Southern vs. #6 CSU San Bernadino
  • #4 Flagler vs. #5 Rockhurst

Concordia-St. Paul is looking to repeat as the national champion this season and has escaped the first round matches to claim the #1 seed going into the Elite Eight. They will face off against a good New Haven squad that fought to earn their spot in the final eight.

Rockhurst earned their #5 seed in the Elite Eight after fighting past Lewis in the regional finals to advance on in the tournament. They will take on Flagler who swept two of their opponents and fought through a five-setter to advance to the Elite Eight. Gannon took down Wheeling Jesuit in straight sets to move onto the Elite Eight where they will face off against Regis who took the #2 seed.

A big surprise not having even made it to the third round of the tournament is Southwest Minnesota State, as they swept through Arkansas Tech in the first round but Minnesota Duluth returned the favor in the second round before they were ousted by Concordia-St. Paul. Southwest was ranked #2 in the final AVCA Rankings, just behind California Baptist who was downed by CSU San Bernadino in the second round of play. CSU San Bernadino will take on #3 Florida Southern as they try to advance to the Final Four.

The tournament will continue on December 7 with the Elite Eight matches followed by the semifinals on December 8 and the champion being crowned on December 9.
