Former Ohio State All-American middle blocker Taylor Sandbothe has agreed to a deal with Regatas Lima in the Peruvian League.
A 6’2″ middle blocker, Sandbothe graduated from Ohio State following the 2016 season as the school’s all-time block leader. She also ranks in the top 20 of nine different statistics at Ohio State. Her list of awards is seemingly never-ending, with AVCA First-Team (2015) and Second-Team (2016) honors leading the way.
Beyond the numbers and accolades, her presence was shown by the difference in Ohio State from 2016 to 2017. In her final season, Sandbothe led Ohio State to the Sweet 16. Meanwhile, without her this past season, the Buckeyes failed to make the NCAA Tournament.
Prior to her collegiate days, Sandbothe was a AVCA Under Armour High School All-American at Lee’s Summit High School in Missouri. On the flip side, following her college years, Sandbothe signed with RC Cannes in France for a season.
Regatas Lima made another big splash days ago when they signed Michigan State’s Holly Tolliver. They’re hoping the American combination can push them over the edge after being a team that’s finished in the top five the last three years but never higher than fourth.
Already this season though, they have a league-best seven points through three matches played. They won their latest in sweep fashion in Sandbothe’s first match with the team.
