Opposite hitter, Szymon Romać, will not be renewed with the Polish club LOTOS Trefl Gdansk for the 2017/2018 season.

After spending most of the season as a reserve player, coming in for Damian Schulz, who ended the season as the second best scorer in the PlusLiga. Romać entered play in 26 league games for Gdansk, earning a total of 78 points on the season. Romać was on loan for the season with Cuprum Lubin, at the end of the loan period Gdansk decided they would not renew his contract with the team.

“Simon is a talented and hardworking player, but this season was not lucky because he had to compete with Schulz, who for almost the entire season showed great form,” said Dariusz Gadomski.

Romać competed with the Polish U21 squad from 2009-2011 where the squad won back-to-back championships in 2010 and 2011. At the 2011 Polish Championship’s Romać earned the Best Server and MVP honors. In 2015, Romać was called up to the Polish national team, where he made team B. At the 2015 European Games, Romać earned his first medal with the national team, as Poland placed third at the competition.
