The Montreux Masters was a six-day, action-packed competition in Switzerland, with some of the best female indoor players in the world. Brazil was able to take the crown this year over Germany, but the German side saw the best scorer in the competition.
Louisa Lippmann led the field of players with 99 total points at the competition, 13 ahead of Paula Yamila Nizetich of Argentina who had 86. Lippmann put down 88 kills for a hitting percentage of 45.13. Brazil’s Tandara Caixeta and Poland’s Malwina Smarzek also contributed 86 points for their teams.
Smarzek produced the most efficient attack in the competition with 72 kills in 158 attempts with 22 errors for a 45.57 hitting percentage.
Brazil’s Adenizia da Silva was a wall at the net, blocking 29 balls in the competition for an average of 1.45 blocks per set. Poland also used their height at the net, with Agnieszka Kakolewska and Zuzanna Efimienko producing 20 and 18 blocks each, respectively.
Poland’s setter outset all setters in the competition by nearly five assists per set, as Joanna Wolosz dished out 13.50 assists per set compared to the Netherlands Femke Stoltenborg who handed out 8.94.
From the backcourt, Argentina’s Tatiana Soledad Rizzo picked up 80 digs over the course of the competition for an average of 3.81 digs per set. Brazil’s Natalia Pereira added 69 digs for her team coming in at 3.45 digs per set.
