Class of 2018 recruit Abigail Westenhofer has committed to the Indiana University women’s volleyball program. A 5’8″ setter from Kentucky, Westenhofer will join the Hoosiers for the fall season ahead.

A senior at Sacred Heart Academy in Louisville, Kentucky, Westenhofer helped her school to a 26-14 season in 2017. She was also a part of a 2016 squad that won the state title.

Individually, she recorded 637 assists (5.9 per set), 259 digs (2.4 per set), 257 kills (2.4 per set), 40 blocks (0.4 per set) and 19 aces (0.2 per set) as a senior – with similar numbers as a junior – according to her MaxPreps profile.

Westenhofer also plays with Union Volleyball and was named to the 2017-18 Under Armour Second-Team All-American list. She was previously committed to St. Louis University.

Indiana is coming off of a 12-20 season in which they went 1-19 playing in the Big Ten. They have a new head coach now in Steve Aird, who brought in plenty of big-time recruits at Maryland. The addition comes at a key spot for the Hoosiers, who have just one setter currently on their 2018 roster in sophomore Victoria Brisack, giving Westenhofer plenty of opportunity for early playing time.
