Italian Men: Vibo Valentia & Wixo LPR Piacenza Make 0-2 Comebacks

Azimut Modena and Sir Safety Conad Perugia remain unbeaten after round five of the Italian Men’s Leauge.

Vibo Valentia made a tremendous comeback over BCC Castellana Grotte after going down 0-2, coming back to win in five. In another amazing comeback showing, Wixo LPR Piacenza fought from a 0-2 deficit to take down Top Volley Latina.

Cucine Lube Civitanova halted the Diatec Trentino turnaround from round 4, by downing them in straight sets this round. Taylor Sander led the squad with 17 points while Tsvetan Sokolov added another 16. For Diatec Trentino, Filippo Lanza posted a match-best 20 points, but it was not enough.

Sir Safety Conad Perugia continued their reign in the league with a sweep over Gi Group Monza behind 12 and 11 Alexander Atanasijevic and Aaron Russell points, respectively. Azimut Modena needed four sets to take down Calzedonia Verona. Earvin Ngapeth went off in the match, posting 27 points along with 13 Giulio Sabbi and 12 Tine Urnaut points.

Vibo Valentia battled for the five-set victory over BCC Castellana Grotte with Francois Lecat providing a late match push for the team with 15 points in the final three sets. Oleg Antonov added another 23 points in the win.

In Wixo LPR Piacenza’s strong comeback win over Top Volley Latina, five players recorded double-digit points in the match – Trevor Clevenot (18), Viktor Yosifov (16), Alessandro Fei (14), Simone Parodi (12) and Aimone Alletti (10).
