Italian Men’s Serie A2 Match Postponed Due To Unsafe Court

The second phase of the Italian Serie A2 League started off with Sigma Aversa/Sieco Service Ortona’s match being postponed to March 14 due to an electrical outage and strong condensation on the court.

The court was deemed unsafe to play on so the Pool B match was moved to a later day to ensure a safe playing field.

The Italian Serie A2 League is played differently than the Serie A1 League as there is an abundance of teams. The 23 teams are split into two groups of 12 and 11 teams that compete to play in a particular pool prior to the playoffs of the league. Both Sigma and Ortona finished in the second bunch of teams (5ht-8th place) in the regular season, putting them into Pool B.

So far, in the second phase, Sigma sits in 4th place with a 7-4 record while Ortona is close behind with a 6-5 record in 5th place. The match between the two teams could shake up their positioning in the Pool, though they don’t have a high shot of making it to the top-two in the pool where they need to be to move onto the next phase.

The postponed match will be played on March 14 at 8:30 PM on the Direct League Volley Channel.
