Following a 2-0 start to West Coast Conference play, Jenna Kuehn of Gonzaga earned the team’s first 2017 WCC Player of the Week award. With Gonzaga taking home the honor, all five weekly awards have been garnered by a different school.
A sophomore opposite and setter, Kuehn posted a team-high 29 kills while hitting .400 for the week to go with 49 assists, 18 digs and two blocks in the two matches of play. The highlight though came on Thursday against Saint Mary’s, as Kuehn logged the first triple-double in Gonzaga history and of the 2017 WCC season when she recorded 23 assists, 15 kills and 10 digs in the win.
She didn’t get to three double-digit categories in the team’s second win, but she was mighty close as she still netted a double-double with 26 assists and 14 kills and had eight digs. Both matches went five sets as the Bulldogs came out on the right side to improve to 7-7 overall after a tough non-conference slate. Most importantly though, they’re undefeated in WCC play.
