Kathryn Plummer Named As National Freshman Of The Year

Stanford’s outside hitter Kathryn Plummer earns the National Freshman of the Year award, the second straight Cardinal to achieve the honor, following Haley Hodson in 2015.

Plummer is just one of two freshman that were named to the AVCA All-America first team. She is the 12th player in Stanford history to be named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.

This season, Plummer ranked ninth in the Pac-12 in kills per set with 3.29 and 3.92 points per set. She led the Cardinals with 10 double-doubles and posted a team-best in kills in 21 of the teams 32 matches, putting down 398 kills so far this season. Plummer is tied for second with the Cardinals at 19 aces.

Plummer’s best offensive match with season came to Colorado with 20 kills. Against Cal Poly, Plummer had 10 blocks and at Oregon State she put a season-best .667 hitting percentage on 12 kills and 18 attempts.

The No. 6-seeded Cardinals enter their 20th Final Four against No. 2 Minnesota on December 15 at 7 PM ET.
