Kentucky’s Lilley, Edmond & Brown Earn SEC Weekly Honors

Kentucky’s Madison Lilley has been named this week’s SEC Player and Setter of the week, after guiding the Wildcats to a strong victory over Tennessee. Also being honored by the SEC for their performances are Kentucky’s Leah Edmond and Kaz Brown, Florida’s Rhamat Alhassan and Georgia’s T’ara Ceasar.

Player/Setter of the Week

Madison Lilley – Kentucky – freshman

Lilley guided Kentucky to a strong sweep over Tennessee on Sunday, dishing out 16.00 assists per set in the win, totaling 48 assists. This effort helped the Wildcats to tie a three-set school record with 55 kills while the squad hit .308 in the win. Lilley also added six digs, two blocks, two kills and one ace on the week.

Offensive Player of the Week

Leah Edmond – Kentucky – sophomore

On the week, Edmond posted 6.83 points and 6.33 kills per set in the win over Tennessee alone. Edmond posted 19 kills in the win and tied the 25-point rally scoring era record that she previously set for a three-set match. In the SEC, Edmond is now averaging 4.39 kills per set. Additionally, Edmond picked up eight digs, one block, one assist and one ace.

Defensive Player of the Week

Rhamat Alhassan – Florida – senior

Alhassan tied Florida’s 14-year-old record for career blocks of 502 as she posted 13 for the Gators over the weekend. In the team’s matches, Alhassan averaged 1.86 blocks per set while also pounding down 14 kills. Alhassan’s 1.70 blocks per set average for the season ranks second nationally.

Kaz Brown – Kentucky – senior

Brown posted six blocks in Kentucky’s sweep over Tennessee including two solo blocks. Now, Brown notched the 25-point rally scoring career record for solo blocks with 56. Additionally, Brown slammed down 13 kills on a .370 hitting performance.

Freshman of the Week

T’ara Caesar – Georgia – freshman

Caesar had a big weekend for Georgia, posting 5.00 kills per set in the team’s win over Missouri. This is the 14th time that Caesar has led Georgia’s offense this season in kills and the 17th time she has recorded double-digit kills. Caesar’s performance led to a .400 hitting clip while is the highest single-match mark in the SEC this season. She also added seven digs and an ace.
