Alan Edwards has resigned as the head coach of Division I Lamar University after 4 seasons in charge of the program. Edwards’ resignation came on Tuesday – 4 days after the team’s season ended with a 5th-consecutive lost.
The team’s 2-14 record in Southland Conference play in 2017, part of a 4-22 overall record, left them in 11th-place in conference play out of 13 teams and out of the Southland Conference tournament. Edwards has an overall 29-83 record (.259) in his 4 years in charge of the program, and the program failed to make the Southland Conference tournament in any of those 4 years.
Results in Edwards’ 4 Seasons:
- 2014: 5-23 (5-11 Conference)
- 2015: 14-16 (4-12 Conference)
- 2016: 6-22 (6-10 Conference)
- 2017: 4-22 (2-14 Conference)
