The Joy McKienzie-Fuerbringer era of Long Beach State volleyball will open with a bang as the Beach will host defending national champion Stanford to kick off the 2017 season. Long Beach State will host another challenging crop of opponents at Walter Pyramid this year, including matches against UCLA (Sep. 15) and Hawai’i (Oct. 13).
Long Beach State opens the 2017 season on Friday, Aug. 25 at Walter Pyramid, playing a Noon match at against the Cardinal. The Beach will also take on Wright State later that evening at 7 p.m., part of a season-opening tournament at the Pyramid. LBSU concludes opening weekend on Aug. 26 with a 7 p.m. match against Iowa.
After a seven-match road trip with stops in Utah, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Malibu, the Beach returns home for three matches in two days Sep. 15-16 to conclude the non-conference slate. Long Beach faces UCLA at 7 p.m. on Friday the 15th, then plays San Francisco (11 a.m.) and Montana State (7 p.m.) on Saturday.
The Big West home opener will be against Cal Poly on Friday, Sep. 29 at 7 p.m., followed by a match the next night against UC Santa Barbara. Long Beach State will host defending Big West champions Hawai’i on Friday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
The Beach will play five of its final six matches at home, including a three-match homestand to finish the regular season. LBSU will face CSUN on Saturday, Nov. 18 in the final regular season match of the year.
Deposits are currently being accepted online for new 2017 women’s volleyball season tickets, and current season ticket holders should have already received their renewal information.
