Live Now: Russia Needs Win Over Iran To Stay Alive In the World League

Russia is sitting in sixth place in the rankings of Group 1 of the World League, needing a win over Iran to keep their hopes alive in making it to the finals.

For Russia, Maxim Zhigalov has been the big force for the team, putting down 119 points in the tournament so far. Zhigalov has posted 93 kills, 14 blocks and 12 aces. A win won’t guarantee them a spot in the finals but will strengthen their chances greatly.

For Iran, they are sitting in tenth place with no shot of making it to the finals of the World League. Their 3-5 record and seven points won’t help them in the event of a win and all 4-4 teams losing their matches. Ghara H. Milad Ebadipour leads the team with 101 points on 84 kills, 12 blocks and five aces.
