2017 FIVB WORLD LEAGUE – POOL F1

After going through the first weekend without a win, the United States Men’s National Team has a winning streak. That’ll be tested in a match against a team who know one has beaten in France.

The U.S. were in the Group 1 cellar at the start of the second week, but following back-to-back sweeps of Italy and Russia, the Red, White and Blue have risen to sixth and would currently be the last team in The Final Six. With Canada right in front of the U.S. (also at seven points) and three teams within two points right behind, it would heavily benefit the U.S. if they could achieve at least a point in the match against what’s been a stellar French side. Last year in the Rio Olympics, the United States were victorious over France in four sets in a Pool A group match.

France is the lone unbeaten remaining the 2017 FIVB World League as they not only sit at 5-0, but have squeezed out the maximum 15 points in those matches. They took down Italy in four sets yesterday and are clinging to first in Group 1 by two points over Brazil, who continues to remain on France’s heels.

Beyond the stakes for France to remain unbeaten and USA to stay in the top six, the winner of this match will also win Pool F1. At the end of the day, winning a pool doesn’t guarantee anything for The Final Six, but pool winners are awarded over $80,000.

France vs. USA starts at 12:30 Eastern Time in the U.S., and is Geo-blocked to non-U.S. residents.
