The proposal period for the 2024 Olympics is underway with three locations still putting in for a bid. Los Angeles, Paris and Budapest each have mapped out their plans for beach volleyball venues.

The International Olympic Committee will vote on the host of the 2024 Olympics on September 13, 2017.

Los Angeles

Santa Monica Beach will play host to beach volleyball if Los Angeles were to get the 2024 Olympic bid. It is a completely temporary venue that will be played on the beach where the sport was invented.

The beach venue would be able to hold up to 12,000 fans close up to the ocean, including an area with many other activities for fans to enjoy such as – surfing, swimming and stand up paddle boarding.

Paris

Paris is set to have beach volleyball played at the foot of the Eiffel Tower in the Champ de Mars. The area is a barrier-free, large urban park located between two monuments: the Eiffel Tower to the north and the historic complex of the Ecole Militaire on the south.

Each year, beach volleyball is played in the park among other sporting events. Large scale concerts are held in the location and the annual Bastille Day fireworks celebration which brings in nearly 300,000 visitors to the site.

Budapest

In Budapest, beach volleyball will be played in the City Park (Városliget) Cluster in the Heroes’ Zone.

The park was built for the millennial celebrations of 1896, to commemorate the first 1,000 years of the Hungarian state. It is a family-friendly location which is known for holding sporting events. The location is in the heart of Budapest, taking only minutes to travel to other Olympic locations.
