Class of 2019 pin (outside hitter and right side) Celeste Darling has committed to the University of Louisiana women’s volleyball program.
Darling is a senior at Boyd High School in McKinney, Texas for her fourth year of varsity. In her first three, according to her MaxPreps profile, she recorded 207 kills (1.3 per set) on a .176 hitting percentage, 107 blocks (0.7 per set) and 104 digs (0.6 per set). As a sophomore and junior too, she was honorable mention all-district.
On the club side of things, Darling plays with Skyline Juniors Volleyball and the 18 Royal team. In 2015 she was a USA Volleyball A2 selection and helped her team make regional finals.
Standing at 6’1″, Darling owns a 7’8″ standing reach and a 9’10” block/approach jump. Her full club recruiting profile can be seen here.
The commitment of Darling additionally gives Louisiana its second class of 2019 recruit that has been registered in the VolleyMob Recruiting Database. Also joining Darling as a freshman for the fall of 2019 will be middle blocker Kara Barnes, who also comes out of Texas.
Louisiana is 10-10 so far in 2018 and 2-4 as a member of the Sun Belt Conference. They’re also fresh off of a 21-11 season in which they went 13-3 in league play in 2017.
