Class of 2020 setter/middle blocker/pin Taylor Gates has verbally committed to the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns (also known as UL Lafayette) women’s volleyball program.
Gates is a rising junior as the fall semester approaches for her at Liberty North High School in Missouri. As a sophomore middle blocker/setter – in her second season of varsity – Gates notched 188 kills (3.2 per set) on a .243 hitting percentage, 160 digs (2.8 per set), 160 assists (2.8 per set), 27 blocks (0.5 per set) and 10 aces (0.2 per set). As a freshman she had higher per set numbers in both blocks (0.8) and aces (0.3) according to her MaxPreps profile.
On the club circuit, Gates plays with Club North Volleyball as a setter and pin-player. She owns a 7’7″ standing reach, a 9’1.5″ block touch, a 9’3″ standing jump and a 9’6″ approach jump. Louisiana is coming off of a 21-11 finish in 2017 in which they went 13-3 as a member of the Sun Belt Conference, good for a second-place ending in the West Division.
